I'm 25 and currently learning how to invest and trade. I'm a final year Business (Banking & Finance) student in Nanyang Technological University.
I was a student in Singapore Polytechnic studying Business Administration. I was always fascinated with the idea of earning money and being financially independent. I asked my father about the stock market and he gladly showed me the platform he was using. I saw the share price moving up and down and from then on, I was hooked.
I wanted to learn more about what the stock market was all about. My father and I went for a one-day crash course about technical analysis. There, I was introduced to a whole bunch of concepts from candlestick patterns to technical indicators. But to be honest, everything I've learnt then, can easily be found on the internet now. It was more of a marketing event for them to showcase their software.
I've always mentioned to my parents about starting a trading account but I kept procrastinating and before you know it, I was graduating from Singapore Polytechnic. Things changed when I entered university. I remember it was the CCA Day where different CCA's were trying to showcase what they were all about. I saw an investment club and I decided to sign up for it.
OCBC Securities has a booth next to them, I asked them about starting up a trading account and the next thing I knew, I was signing the forms for a trading account. I was excited, but a little fearful that I might lose money. I didn't trade much, I didn't make much, I didn't really know what I was doing. I then discovered contract for differences (CFD's) which is the primary instrument that I use to trade right now.
Currently, I at least have a trading plan to follow and I've decided to share my experience and learning journey on this site with the hopes of helping others achieve financial literacy.
I know how daunting it can be, but I believe everyone should have an opportunity to learn about trading and investing in the simplest way possible.
I hope you enjoy my site and learn something from it.
Cheers
